Things with Peter definitely hadn't gone the way Sam had planned, but he wasn't about to start acting defeated. He was sure it would only be a matter of time before Dean and John found out about what happened, so for now, Sam was content to wait and see what would happen next. If Dean found him before, he could find him again, and this time, Sam wasn't sure if he'd let him get away without having some fun.
( Of course, it wouldn't be fun if he was alone in the woods the whole time... )
