There were a lot of reasons Sam was excited about teaching this summer, and getting an office was one of them. He felt more responsible than ever sitting at a desk with his laptop, and sure, he was splitting his time between e-mailing Peter and playing games on Facebook, but he still felt like more of an adult than he had at this point last year. Surely, that was some kind of progress.
