The first thing Sam had done when they'd gotten back from Bobby's place was take the longest shower he'd ever had in his life. After double-checking with his dad and Dean that Peter and Jo were really all right, and making sure that Dean would check on Dawn, he'd gone back upstairs and crawled into bed, and he hadn't moved since. He knew there were things he should have been doing - apologies to make, other people to check on - but it all just seemed like too much when all he wanted to do was wish the last week away.

The door to his room was locked, for all the good it would do around his family. If nothing else, it was a symbolic gesture that he was hoping would make them realize he still wanted to be alone. Whether or not they left him that way was up to them.

Dean gave Sammy what he felt was the proper length of time to wallow then went upstairs and knocked on the door.

Sam glanced back at the door when he heard the knock, and then curled up again, not saying a word.

"Dude, I know you're in there."

"Go away, Dean. I'm trying to sleep," Sam said, even though sleep wasn't really an option.

"Yeah, no. So are you going to make me pick the lock?"

Sam honestly thought about that option for a minute, before sighing and getting up. He went to the door and unlocked it, but didn't open it, and went straight back to his bed instead.

Dean came in and sat on the edge of the bed. "So how long are you planning on staying in here?"

"I don't know," Sam said. "How long do you think it'll be before Zoe and Dad decide they want to move to somewhere else?"

"Let's put it this way, if you don't get up and stop emoing all over the places, I'm going to let Scout in," Dean warned.

Sam scowled at Dean and grumbled as he sat up. He still couldn't bring himself to really look at Dean though. "Are Scout and Hunter still people?"

"Yep."

"Stupid island," Sam muttered. "I want my dog to be a dog again."

"I hear you there. I had to wrestle the phone away from Hunter as he was telling Dawn about what good scritches I give."

Yeah, like you could keep Peter away once he found out that Sam - actual Sam - was back. He came by to the house and knocked on Sam's door. "Sam? It's me."

After everything that had happened, Sam wasn't expecting to hear Peter's voice because he was an idiot, and he was surprised enough to get out of bed and go over to the door, but he didn't open it. "Peter? What are you doing here?"

"I'm here to see you," Peter said. Because Sam had had a rough week, Peter left off the word "Dumbass."

Sam wanted to see him, to see with his own eyes that Peter was all right, but the practical part of his brain still insisted that was a bad idea. "You shouldn't be here," he said. "Nathan--I don't think he'd like it very much."

"You know that having you unlock the door is mostly a formality, right?" Peter told him.

With a sigh, Sam unlocked the door, and opened it a crack. "Does Nathan know you're here?"

Peter ignored the question so he could push his way in and try to hug Sam.

Sam couldn't help the surprised sound he made, and he had to fight the urge to hug Peter back as he tried to pull away from him. "Peter, you really shouldn't be here," he said. "You need to go before you get into trouble."

"How are you?" Peter asked, paying no attention to Sam's protests. He moved back but only so he could look Sam over. "Did it hurt you?"

It took a second, but Sam managed to shake his head, deciding to just go with Peter's questions for now. "No, not really," he said. "What about you? Are you okay?"

"Fine," Peter said. "Worried like hell about you."

Peter couldn't help but look in the direction of where the mark had been on Sam's arm.

"I'm sorry," Sam said, before following Peter's gaze. "Alec burned the mark." He pulled his sleeve up to show Peter. "He broke the link so the demon had to get out."
