Room 328, Early Thursday Morning

Sam woke up and glanced at the clock, figuring out that he and Dawn still had a few more minutes to sleep before they had to get up for Mystical Artifacts class. It wasn't until there was an attempt to shift closer to Dawn and snuggle that Sam realized there was some extra, unusual space between them.

The first yell came when he shot up in bed and looked down at his chest. When he realized how high pitched his voice was, he put his hands over his mouth, but that didn't stop him from yelling again.

"I didn't do it!" Dawn said as she shot straight up in bed. As soon as she realized they weren't being invaded, she looked at Sam grumpily, still not having registered the change in voice. "What the hell, Sam?"

And then she realized what she was looking at and stared. "Sam?"

Sam was caught between the desire to flail, and the desire to cover up the brand new girl parts. "Am I hallucinating? Please tell me I'm hallucinating."

So Dawn did what any rational human being would do. She pinched the other girl (but not in the girl parts, because ow).

"Ow!" Sam rubbed her arm and resisted the urge to pinch back. "God, I think you pinch harder than Dean."

"Now you're just whining," Dawn told him, er, her, er, Sam, "Soooo, curse or random Fandom event? Also, gotta say, this is a little weird. Want a shirt or something?"

"Yes? Please?" She frowned a little at how desperate she sounded. "I'm going to hope that this isn't a curse, because that would mean I'm the only one who woke up like this, and that's not a good thing at all."

Dawn climbed over Sam and headed over to her dresser, pulling out a loose t-shirt and tossing it to him, pulling another one over her own head. "Okay, it's a little weird, but there are worse things than being a girl for however long this lasts." She sat down on the end of the bed and studied him. "You're a pretty girl, if that helps."

"I'm having trouble thinking of worse things at the moment. Uh, no offense," Sam added quickly, pulling the shirt on and frowning when it didn't reach down quite as far as she wanted it to. "That helps somewhat, I guess. You know what would help more? If you looked like a guy."

"Okay, no fair you still being taller, and me as a guy? Wow, that would be weird. I mean, seriously. Oh!" She grinned at him, "Don't forget to sit down in the bathroom, and you'll understand better about the toilet seat thing now."

"You are enjoying this way too much," Sam said.

"I have no idea what you're talking about," Dawn said innocently, right up until she ruined it all by getting a case of the giggles. "I'm sorry, Sam, I know this has got to be scary and annoying and all of that, but you're a girl, with breasts and long hair and hips and other girl parts. You seem to be completely healthy, otherwise. I can't even be angry or scared about it, you know?"

"Oh, I'm pretty sure I can be angry enough for the both of us, don't worry about that," Sam replied. "And I never thought I'd say this, but you talking about girl parts is officially weird."

"Oh, don't be angry, unless it's just you," Dawn told him, "and what? Why? I mean, I have them, and you know I have them. You've even seen them."

"Yes, I've seen them, and they're wonderful, believe me. But they're yours, and you're supposed to have them," Sam explained. "I'm not!"

"Okay, okay," Dawn patted him on the shoulder, "we'll figure this out. But not right this second, because everything's still locked. Besides, I'm not sure I have clothes that will fit you, which means you'll have to wear yours with the sleeves and legs rolled up."

"Or I could just stay in here and not have to worry about clothes. Er, more than what I'm already wearing," he replied. "There's much, much less chance of public embarrassment that way."

"Except we have class, and I'm not sure mystical sex change is a valid excuse," Dawn chewed on her lower lip, "especially if it happened to everyone. I mean, you might have to explain it to your dad...oh my god, you dad as a girl..." She whimpered.

"I think my brain just broke."

"...Oh my God, you just broke my brain too." Sam said, facepalming, and it didn't take long for the need to be a good student to outweigh the need to hide. "You're right, we have to go to class. Hey, wait," he said suddenly. "If this happened to other people, do you think maybe it happened to Dean? Because then my chances of getting mocked would be a whole lot smaller."

"If it happened to other people, I can almost guarantee that it happened to Dean," Dawn rolled her eyes, trying to ignore the visual she had of John Winchester, complete with beard, in drag. "I swear, his luck is worse than yours and mine put together."

Sam had finally gathered enough courage to get out of bed and fully look down at his body. It felt weird to be shorter - weirder than he was willing to admit, at least. "I don't know, my luck's pretty lousy."

Dawn gave Sam the once-over, not in a dirty way, but in a "huh, so that's what my boyfriend looks like as a girl" way, which involved much less overt ogling. "It could have been worse," Dawn decided, "at least you can communicate like this. Besides, being a girl is fun."

"And at least I'm not a foul-mouthed jerk," Sam added, going to look in his closet for anything that might fit. "Okay, educate me, oh wise one. How is being a girl fun?"

"Yeah, see, that was less fun," Dawn agreed, padding over to the closet. She still had to look over his shoulder, darn it. "Well, for one thing, you can make all the boys lose 50 IQ points just by wearing leather. Um, you get underestimated, which isn't great, but it makes it easier to catch someone by surprise. You get to wear pretty clothes and do fun stuff with your hair. You don't have to worry about being too 'girly', plus you have a monthly excuse to eat chocolate."

"I think being a girl might be more fun with the mindset to match the body," Sam replied, sighing as he dug through shirts. "I don't want to make anyone's IQ drop, I want to wear my own clothes, and I just want my hair out of my face. And I'm not even going to consider the possibility that this could last for a month."

"Okay, okay," Dawn said, trying to be soothing, "You can wear your own clothes with a few modifications, and I can help you tie your hair back so it doesn't bother you."
